Our Top 11 Things to Pack for a Sailing Day

Come pack a bag with us for your next sailing day trip!

Are you ready for your next sailing trip? Obviously the Ragged Edge team are ALWAYS ready (and open to invites so drop us a comment when you want us to come along 😉)  and today we picked out our top 11 products to pack for a day on the water.

Whether you're heading out for a day sailing trip to the Antarctica anchorage in Dubai (for those non-UAE folks out there - this is a beautifully calm anchorage spot at the bottom of the World Islands, perfect for a weekend picnic and swim session!) or exploring further afield in the rest of the beautiful UAE waters (we're looking at you RAK and the Musandam!), it’s essential to be well-prepared. From sun protection to hydration, having the right gear is crucial to ensure an enjoyable experience on the boat.

Let us help you pack with some of our favorite sailing gear and products, all of which can be easily packed into the new Spinlock 27L Venture backpack (in stock at the chandlery now!)

1. The Spinlock 27L Venture Backpack
This versatile and spacious backpack is perfect for any sailing adventure. With its sturdy construction and ample storage, it's a must-have for your gear. And the best part? It’s in stock and ready for you!

2. U-Sail Spider Shoes
If you haven't tried these yet, you're in for a treat. We LOVE these sailing shoes, in fact we are sure that they are the best on the market. They're lightweight, incredibly grippy, and provide excellent support and protection. Some fun little key features are the drainage holes and laces pocket which means you won't be catching those loops on anything.
We stock the monochromatic grey colourway (a firm favourite of Sian's!), and can also help you design your own CUSTOM colourway with your boat branding. These make for pretty special crew kit!

3. Rooster Pro Race Gloves
Our absolute go-to gloves for sailing. These gloves provide superb grip and comfort, making them essential for any sailor. These sailing gloves come with either all open fingers (called the 5F) or with 2 open (thumb and forefinger for dexterity) and the rest closed, and the size range is pretty impressive - from 3XS up to 2XL! You can order online HERE or via Whatsapp

4. Pelle P 1200 Shorts
These hero sailing shorts are taking the UAE waters by storm! The quick-dry, stretchy shorts are packed with pockets and come in both men's and women's cuts, and a HUGE range of colours (from neutrals to down right LOUD!).  With reinforced seat, and a free belt - they’re the bomb for any sailing trip - pictured below in striking Blazing Orange colour (we mentioned LOUD right?) and Envy Green.

5. Rooster Quick-dry Long-Sleeve UV T-Shirt
A staple in our sailing kit, this quick-dry long-sleeve offers UVF50+ protection (perfect for our climate) and a nice loose fit to keep you cool. Made from anti-bacterial 100% Recycled Polyester, we'd been happy to have sold hundreds of these to sailors in the UAE.
They look sleek, especially when team-branded (we'll do a post about some of the cool branding examples we've done for individuals, as gifts, for small sailing teams, for sailing clubs and academies, and even for government institutions!)

6. Insalt Eyewear Slayer Polarised Sunnies
These sporty sunglasses are Australian designed and made from recycled plastic bottles. With an anti-salt coating and anti-scratch TAC lens, they super durable, and Australian CAT 3 and Australian certified UV400 - perfect for any sunny day on the water.

We had a LOT of fun after the SB20 Worlds checking out our tracks, our speeds, and comparing them to the competition!
